Ghastly Spiderweb Mug with Bat Wing Handle
This mug is made using a light stoneware and coated in a layer of black slip. The spiderweb is then carved in to the mug revealing the white clay beneath. This technique is called “sgraffito.” The mug is then glazed. The interior is a glossy, dark, glittery glaze. The exterior was intended to be glossy clear, however a glaze imperfection made the exterior a bit foggy and caused some “crawling” of the glaze. Because it’s on the outside, the mug is still food-safe. I decided that it was a happy accident, because I think it looks spooky and rad. Designed with accessibility in mind, the bat wing handle allows for single-hand holding of the mug while keeping it level. No spills! It's also designed to keep your hand from touching the hot wall of the mug. Signed “MESSER”
There are slight variations between the different mugs under this listing, as these pieces are hand-made.
